New Church Chef

We are pleased to welcome Barbara Potter to First Baptist Church as our new church chef for Wednesday Night Meals and special events.

Barbara comes to us with a wealth of experience in preparing meals for church groups.  She has previously worked at First Presbyterian Church in Winston-Salem as their chef and events coordinator as well as for two catering companies in Winston-Salem. Barbara received training at Guilford Technical Community College in their Culinary Arts program. She is a resident of northern Davidson County. She also serves as the manager of the Lexington Farmer’s Market in the Depot District of Uptown Lexington.

Her first night with us will be Wednesday, October 12. Welcome Barbara!

Family Night, Fall 2016

Family Night Begins This Wednesday, September 14th, 2016.

We have an exciting night of great entertainment to kick off our Family Night fall season.  “The Wildcat Mountain Boys” will present a fast-paced, Bluegrass performance that you will not want to miss!   We need your reservation today! On Time Catering will be providing our meal.

Menu: Chicken Pie, Green Beans, Mashed Potatoes, Salad & Dessert  $6.00 per person
There will not be a separate children’s menu available for this meal.

Our annul Soup and Sandwich lunch is scheduled for Sunday, January 24 following the worship service. Joyce will be making her delicious homemade vegetable soup and you will have a choice of a Conrad and Hinkle Pimento Cheese or Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwich.

Jane Blackerby will also be coordinating a delicious bake sale. Tickets are $7.00 for adults, $4.00 for children 12 and under with a $25.00 family limit. All proceeds will offset the cost of Passport for our youth this summer.

Family Night Fall 2015 Premiere

Well, it was a great night……The congregation trickled in, the kids were anxious, most of the food was ready….and then it happened…..the BBQ Chicken was a no show. Arrgh! Phone calls were made to the vendor. The stalwart congregation, in the meantime enjoyed some meaningful fellowship…..for about 45 minutes or so. Finally, the Chicken arrived much to the delight of the hungry congregation.

After some good food and fellowship, Ryan Short provided an outstanding program geared toward all ages. Great job FBC!

Eric and Julie Maas are our CBF Missionaries in Belize. They serve as Camp Directors for the Baptist Training Center that our church helped to start 25 years ago. Eric and Julie will be our guests Sunday, July 12.

We are having a lunch with Eric and Julie following the service at Tricia’s Catering. Everyone is invited to attend. Tickets are $14.00 for adults and $7.00 for children 10 and under. Tickets (available in the church office) must be purchased by Sunday, July 5 and checks made to Tricia’s Catering.
