Jim Tate

Jim is a lifelong member of First Baptist Church. His family can be traced back to the charter members when the church was originally formed in 1881. A native of Lexington, Jim currently lives in Trinity, NC. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a graduate of the Administrative Officer’s Management Program at NC State University. Jim is retired from a 36 year law enforcement career, serving with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Department and the High Point Police Department. His last position with HPPD was a Major/Assistant Chief of Police.

Jim previously served as the Interim Business Administrator for the church in 2016-2017. He currently serves as the chief of the FBC Security Crews. Jim is also a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. Over the years he has served on several church committees in leadership roles. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Crimestoppers of High Point. He also serves as an executive officer with the High Point Police Retired Officers Association. He is a member of a local Thursday Morning Men’s Bible Study Group.

Jim is married to Debbie Leonard Tate. They have two children, Will and Anna Raye, and two grandchildren, Levi and Sophia. He is an avid reader, likes to travel, participates in pistol shooting sports and family related activities.
