Operation Christmas Child 2016

Save this date: November 16, 2016.

Our church has participated in the Christmas Shoe Box collection since it began in operationchristmaschild-smallpng1993. When it first started we collected 200 plus boxes, but numbers have steadily declined in recent years, down to about 65 last year.

We can do better than that!

This year we want everyone to pack a shoe box (from the youngest to the oldest senior adult) boys, girls, men, and women. If you have physical limitations and are unable to shop, contact Barbara Epley at 336-2491331 and she will shop for you, bring the box to you, and help you pack it.

We need your help to collect the most shoe boxes ever!  We have ordered shoe boxes from Operation Christmas Child. They are now available for pickup.

Determine whether you wish to sponsor a boy or girl and choose the age group. Simply pack items that are age appropriate in a shoe box, include a $7.00 check payable to Samaritan’s Purse (covers shipping and handling). Attach a brochure, available in the church office or the Fellowship Hall. The final day for us to these in is Wednesday, November 16, 2016.

Pick up your box today and start shopping.

Christmas Joy

Mother Teresa said, “Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love.” Our church has been able to do great things this Advent, because of all the small things we have been faithful to do together.

We sent 66 shoeboxes through Operation Christmas Child, we adopted 125 Salvation Army Angels, and we gave 60 food boxes through our Sunday School. Our youth and parents sponsored a Christmas party for patients of Cancer Services, and many of our members helped with the Prison Ministry Christmas party.

There is Christmas joy in knowing we have blessed others with God’s love. Thank you for your faithfulness.
