Letter from Jean

Dear Members of First Baptist Church of Lexington,

I would like to begin by saying thank you to the congregation of First Baptist Church for your years of support for the Children’s Center as a whole and for me, personally, as its Director. I am very grateful for the opportunity I have had to serve the families of our church and community over the past 35 years. In that time, I’ve had the unique experience of not only seeing the young children who began their education in our Children’s Center grow into adulthood, but I’ve also gotten the opportunity to see many of their children come through our halls and classrooms as well. Each of these individuals has been a blessing in his or her own way, and I have grown as a person and as a professional through my years of knowing them.

As with any endeavor or career with which God blesses us, the time comes when He has used us to the fullest within that position. So it is with my time here at the Martha Best Children’s Center. I believe that God has used me fully in the time I’ve been here, and while I would not trade even a single day of that time, I am ready to retire! My last day will be February 26, 2019. While I may be retiring from this position, be assured that I will continue to serve God with my heart, soul, and mind as he leads me into the next phase of my life.

Again, thank you for the support throughout the years. The people of First Baptist Church have truly been both my friends and family, and it has been an honor to serve you and to be loved by you.

God Bless,
Jean Ashley
