Rarely has a church business meeting been so joyful!  On Wednesday night we voted unanimously and enthusiastically to call Wes Richardson as our Director of Youth and Children’s Minister.  This was done after we voted to combine the two positions (music and youth & children) into one full-time position.

We want to express our gratitude to Bub Wright and members of our Search Committee who have kept the faith during this long search.  I am so thankful we did not rush into a decision but waited for the right timing—right for Wes and for us—God’s timing.

This is an exciting time for our church.  I know everyone will be there to help and support Wes and he embarks on this new ministry in his life.

This Sunday we celebrate the “Third Sunday of Easter” with a focus on the resurrection appearance of Jesus to the disciples as recorded in the 24th Chapter of Luke.  Jon Myers will be reading Dr. Luke’s account of the unforgettable experience that begins with the two Emmaus Road disciples rushing back to Jerusalem with the news: “The Lord has risen indeed!”

I want us to focus on the words found in verse 48, “You are witnesses of these things.”  He did not say, “You shall be witnesses” or “I want you to be witnesses.”  Jesus said: “You are witnesses!”

We will sing some great hymns: “In the Garden,” “Christ is Alive,” and “He Lives.”  Marty will set the stage for our worship with the powerful sounds of “All Glory, Laud, and Honor.”  Her Postlude is “Come All Christians, Rejoice.”  Her Offertory is a fascinating Lori Line arrangement, “Threads of Love.”

Will Tate is singing “The Lord’s Prayer” and the great, old gospel hymn, “Jesus Paid It All.”

April is the Food Roundup for Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina.  A bulletin insert tomorrow will give you more details.  You can also follow this link:  https://www.bchfamily.org/food-round-up

Please place all donations on the stage in the Fellowship Hall.  Gift cards from Food Lion and Walmart are also accepted.

Many responded to the “Giving Tree” last Sunday.  If you haven’t had a chance to get your envelope, please do so on Sunday.  Each envelope has a number that will correspond to the amount of money you are willing to give.  You will also find testimonies from our youth who will be traveling to the Dominican Republic.

We are updating our membership database.  Our last pictorial directory is 7 years old.  Many things have changed since then.  Please let us know if there has been a change in your email, telephone, or address.

Friday night, June 14, will be our church’s night at the Winston-Salem Dash.  We have a limited number of tickets, so reserve your space today.  Randy Everhardt will drive the bus for the first 15 who request transportation.  Your all-inclusive ticket includes grandstand seating, all of your food, and fireworks at the conclusion of the game.  It is a great deal for a fun-filled night of fellowship, baseball, entertainment, and great food.

I hope you can worship with us in the morning.  Here is the link to the YouTube broadcast:  First Baptist Church, Lexington, NC  USA YouTube Channel
