Dear FBC-Friends,
There are two ordinances that we observe in the Baptist church—Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. This Sunday we will stand on Holy Ground as we celebrate both of our sacred ordinances during our time of worship.
Alli and Bailey Rogers, daughters of Laura and Tad Rogers, granddaughters of Emogene Thomas, will be baptized on Sunday. The focus of the baptismal service will be the Light of Christ. The girls will leave the baptistery with lighted candles (coming from the Christ candle). This light will also be a part of the communion service as Alli and Bailey and their family will receive communion first in a special ceremony which will be followed by the congregation receiving communion.
The choir will sing, “If We Will Seek The Lord” during the service of communion. “If we will seek the Lord, we will surely find Him. If we will follow Him, He will show the way.”
With a focus on the light, the Choral Introit will be a beautiful arrangement of a very old hymn, “O Gracious Light, Lord Jesus Christ.” The congregation will be invited to join in the final stanza.
The hymn following the baptisms is the majestic and triumphal, “Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee.”
Jen Fuller-Allen will share our Children’s Time this Sunday and we will hear a report from the children who have spent this week at Passport Kids in Lynchburg, VA.
Beverly has a beautiful offertory planned: “Jesus, Thou Joy of Loving Hearts” And following our long-standing tradition, our service will conclude with the singing of “Sweet, Sweet Spirit.”
Very soon you will receive an email from Right Now Media. You will be invited to join this online video resource that literally has thousands of Christian videos of Bible Studies, Leadership Training, Marriage Enrichment, Money Management, and great Children’s programming. Our deacons voted to provide this resource to our church for one year. It will not cost you or the church anything; it is a gift from our Diaconate. We will be sharing much more information about this amazing resource in the coming weeks.
I hope to see you in church this Sunday! As always, you can tune in to WLXN Radio at 1440 AM or 99.9 FM to listen if you are not able to attend in person.
Grace and Peace,
Ray
