FaithHealth focus: Organ Donation

Life is God’s greatest gift. Jesus said “I’ve come that you might have life in all of its fullness.” (John 10: 10) Modern medicine has opened new doors of sharing God’s greatest gift. Each one of us can potentially extend the gift of life to others through Organ Donation.

There are over 3,300 North Carolinians waiting to receive a life-saving organ. But there is a shortage of donors. Each day an average of 21 people die who could have been saved with an organ donation.

April is Donate Life Month and becoming an organ donor is simple, easy, and doesn’t cost a dime. Go to www.donatelifenc.org to register. Joining the registry means that you have chosen to make some or all of your organs and tissue available for transplant at the time of your death. Advances in medicine continue to allow more people to donate, and organs and tissues are carefully screened prior to transplant, so anyone can join the registry — regardless of age or medical history.

You can also register in person at the DMV. A heart is placed on your driver’s license that identifies you as a donor. It is important to let your family know of your wishes. Donor cards can also be downloaded from the website and are available this morning.

Becoming an organ donor will not cost you or your family anything, but it might just provide God’s greatest gift to a deserving person in need. Don’t delay—become an organ donor today!

Faith Health

Mark your calendars for Sunday afternoon, March 15. Our church and First Baptist Church on Village Drive will be joining hands to explore ways we can reach out into our community, to those who are unchurched, through FaithHealth.

The meeting will begin at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Village Drive.

FaithHealth is not just another program or another committee, FaithHealth is an initiative that creates a dynamic partnership between our church family, the
community, and the health care providers. You will hear an update on FaithHealth this morning from Deb and Don Watson, our coordinators. There are many ways you can be involved in this exciting movement.

In many ways, FaithHealth is nothing new.  FaithHealth is essentially what the Christian family is all about, caring for one another. Like the Gospel story we will hear this morning, FaithHealth is caring enough about your friends that you will find a way to get them the help they need. FaithHealth is allowing the church to reclaim the ministry of healing.

FaithHealth Meeting 2014

A very important meeting for all FaithHealth volunteers will be Wednesday, January 15, 2014
at 7:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Everyone is invited to attend!

This would be a great opportunity to get involved in one of our church’s most dynamic ministries. There will be a presentation sponsored by Lexington Medical Center by the Monarcares Company on a new website and computer application for the FaithHealth NC ministry.

Faith Health — Save the dates.

Faith Health of FBC is meeting on January 8, 2014 and January 15, 2014 , both at 7:00pm and both in the church Fellowship Hall.

The January 8 meeting will be for updates and planning purposes for 2014. The January 15 meeting will be a presentation sponsored by Lexington Medical Center by the Monarcares Company on a new website and computer application for the FaithHealth NC ministry.

New members to the FaithHealth Ministry would be welcome at either (both) meetings.
